Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 Upgrade ReviewI read the other review that was posted for this product (also a "1" rating) but did not really understand what the reviewer was trying to say.
Now that I have purchased (and returned the product to Amazon) and spoke to several Adobe representatives via online chat and phone, I understand the situation. Simply stated (I hope), if you have a previous version of Dreamweaver (such as CS3 or CS4) as a stand alone software package, you can use this upgrade product. This product will upgrade your existing Dreamweaver software to CS5.
If you have an Adobe software suite, such as Adobe CS3 Web Standard (which I had), this upgrade product is *NOT* for you. As explained to me by the Adobe representatives, an Adobe suite package containing Dreamweaver can only be upgraded by purchasing a suite upgrade package -- not the stand alone Dreamweaver CS5 upgrade.
So, instead of spending approximately $200 to upgrade my Dreamweaver CS3 to CS5, I will need to purchase CS5 Web Premium (an $800 upgrade). Granted, you get a lot of software in the suite, but you may not want all that stuff. A second option would be to purchase a complete version of stand alone Dreamweaver CS5 (approximately $400).
I studied Adobe's web site on multiple occasions before I incorrectly purchased this upgrade product. I was convinced that I had done the right thing -- until I tried to load the upgrade, and it would not allow me to proceed.
