Roxio Creator 2010 Pro ReviewI have been a Roxio user and fan for many years -- and until now, their products have been great, but I have never seen such poor quality and had such a bad experience with a PC software product. After over a dozen hours of effort, this product will not install on Vista, no matter what (and I am a technical person with a degree in Computer Science & years of software experience). Phone support is $1.89 a minute, minimum 15 minutes... and the online support experience is horrendous, prompting me to write this review.
Save your patience, wits, and money and look elsewhere.Roxio Creator 2010 Pro Overview

Nero 10 Multimedia Suite Platinum HD ReviewGenerally speaking, this is a relatively good product. It is, however, marred by awful customer support and odd program behaviors (at least with regard to video conversion). For example, when I attempted to convert homemade DVD movies with menus into their full digital counterparts (i.e. with menus), Nero only converted the main movie, despite that fact that it recognized the Chapter locations before conversion takes place. In addition, the DVD conversion frequently (i.e. half the time) stops 1/3 or 1/2 of the way through a DVD, displaying the following message: "There was a problem with DirectShow. The application quit for no good reason." Not especially helpful feedback.Nero 10 Multimedia Suite Platinum HD OverviewVideo Editing and Playback: Easily create photo slideshows.Add advanced personal touches for stunning resultsCreate and edit videos and movies and export to create HD DVDs and Blu-ray Discs.Apply high quality movie themes to your slideshows and videos with the automatic slideshow creatorShare photos and videos on social media communitiesDisc Burning:Burn with the world's most trusted award-winning burning engine. Nero Multimedia Suite 10 ReviewPurchased this software with the expectations it could produce a decent quality DVD image.
My wife and I spent weeks producing a DVD of our son's christening using Nero Vision 10 which was all shot on a Sony HDR-CX350v in FX mode (24Mbps). When it's burnt to DVD, the picture quality looks like something shot through a lens covered in Vaseline, the original footage (1080i) is crystal clear however.
I tried every option, "Motion-adaptive Deinterlacing" (checked/unchecked), "Sample Format" (tried every option), "Encoding mode" (tried Fast encoding (1-pass) and High Quality (2-pass VBR)).
It all produces this same rubbish DVD render quality. This has been discussed on the Nero forums and Nero are yet to admit to a problem.
I downloaded a trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10, created a simple movie, added some of the clips I used in my Nero project, burnt to DVD just using the default Vegas settings and the difference between the Sony Vegas DVD and the Nero DVD are like night and day.
Some of my clips show footage inside a church, on the Vegas DVD details are crisp and clear. In the Nero DVD, details are blurred to the point you can't even make out the patterns on people's clothing.
Nero 10 is garbage and I wish I could get my money back on this product.
Avoid at all costs. I think Sony Vegas will be my next purchase.Nero Multimedia Suite 10 OverviewFinally, multimedia software that truly does what you need. Nero 11 empowers you to create, manage and share your photos, music and videos like never before. The express video editing workflows, plus burning and backup are stepped up and seamlessly integrated with exciting features to give you a true 360-degree experience. Easy-to-advanced video editing, including innovative video file conversion technology for multiple device playback, provides you with the full circle connection for your digital media needs.
