Wordperfect Office X4 Standard Upgrade ReviewI'm a Mac person, but I have Windows XP on my iMac (had Vista, made the switch back, but that's another story), so installing WordPerfect was no problem. It installed quickly and with just a couple clicks I had a document open in Unity Mode on my computer. Using Fusion, one can completely hide XP, so it seems as if Windows programs are running natively on the Mac. It's important for me to say this, because I am, after all, running Windows in emulation. But tell it to WordPerfect. It's jack rabbit quick on my Mac.
I compared it to Nisus Writer, the premiere made for Mac only Word Processor and speed wise to my eyes, WordPerfect was every bit as quick. Compared it to Word for the Mac, just as fast. Even a Mac guy could live with this program. Printing, you get exactly what you see when you have your document open in Page Mode. The spell checker is as nifty as they come. The word you're currently typing appears in a little box in a ribbon at the top (if you have it open), so you know instantly if you've misspelled a word, because not only is it underlined in read (if you have that feature activated,) but it's in red in that little box, click the drop down menu and you'll usually find the correct spelling. Very cool, very fast.
I didn't like the word count at the bottom of the document. It's not live. You have to click on it to get your count, both Word and Nisus Writer have live word counts and that's kind of neat. That said, that is the only feature I'm not happy with. My only other problem is how the text looks on screen. If you're a Window's person you'll be happy with it, but text on Macs just looks better.
Still, I'll keep the program, because I just kind of like it. It's got a refreshing interface, clean -- and also because years ago I used to use WordPerfect for the Mac exclusively, but Apple changed chips and WordPerfect abandoned the platform, so now it seems like an old friend has come home, even though he really hasn't. Anyway, WordPerfect was a five star program back then, it still is.Wordperfect Office X4 Standard Upgrade OverviewWordPerfect Office X4 Standard Edition is the essential office suite for home and business usersto create great-looking documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and manage e-mail. Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Version Upgrade ReviewIf you use PowerPoint for public/professional speaking, seminars, etc., then the "Presentation View" feature of MS PowerPoint 2007 (and, of course, also in 2010) is worth whatever price you paid. I don't know about you, but the first time I used PowerPoint to prepare a presentation, I was shocked to find out that the "Notes" section could not be viewed by the presenter during the presentation -- whose idea was that? Yes, you could print the notes and the slide on paper, but then you had to turn the (paper) page in addition to moving to the next slide in the presentation. Well no more. Presentation View now lets you see a different view of your presentation than the audience. The audience sees just the slide; the presenter can see the Notes section (the window for Notes can be resized and the font size of the Notes increased), along with thumbnails of upcoming slides (some resizing of the thumbnails is possible), it tells you the slide number of the current slide and the total number of slides, and even shows how much time has elapsed since the presentation began. For me, being able to have ALL my notes visible was nothing short of spectacular. I could include citations to reference material relevent to that slide, reminders about information that had to be covered on that slide, and anything else I wanted. To the audience, it appeared as though I didn't have any notes. The price for the stand alone MS PowerPoint program is about $100. The price for MS Office Suites varies from $200 to $500. For this one feature, I would have gladly paid $500. Once you use Presentation View one time, you will never go back.Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Version Upgrade OverviewMicrosoft PowerPoint 2007 Version Upgrade Win32 CD

Microsoft Visio Professional 2010 ReviewFor a program with this price tag, I expect a lot more refinement in functionality. Flowcharts are no easier to create in Visio than in PowerPoint. Arrows and flows behave unpredictably and do not snap properly--worse, flow chart arrows don't stay straight, meaning that moving or resizing an element in your flowchart or org chart often requires finessing all connectors back into straight lines---this is truly no better than PowerPoint.Microsoft Visio Professional 2010 OverviewVisio Professional 2010 takes diagramming to a bold new level with dynamic, data-driven visualization tools and templates, and advanced sharing through the Web.
