Burger Shop ReviewBurger Shop is one of the best games of this type out there. Unlike a lot of the 'fill orders' type games, there is no character walking around the screen filling the orders, you just point and click on the food to build it and right click or drag it to serve it. Level 1 has you serving simple hamburgers and cheeseburgers, but at each new level you are required to pick an additional food item or upgrade so that it gradually becomes very complex to build and serve the food. The characters you serve are varied with their patience and predictability and additional ones are added as the game progresses.
Other excellent features of this game: You can go back and replay any level at any time and the level never plays the same way twice. The game gives cute little 'ranks' and 'trophies' for those of us that are goal-oriented. And it also offers 'challenge' and 'relax' modes if you just feel like playing a quickie game. Of course the game is so addicting you never stop there!
Personally, I find building the more complex burgers difficult. Looking at them and instantly mentally grasping what ingredients go into making them and then executing that is a slow process for me, so I can't really get through the last set of levels or 'expert' levels with perfect scores, but that does not prevent me from going back and trying again. Beach Party Craze ReviewFirst of all, if you have this game or are thinking of purchasing it, I would highly recommend purchasing the incredible Virtual Resort: Spring Break but because it's nearly ten years old it may not run on Win 7 systems.
Bright, cartoony graphics highlight this time-management sim that seem geared toward children but the action gets frenetic at times so young kids may struggle without the help of a parent. Your best friend runs off and leaves you in charge of a beach resort so you are challenged with serving each customer's needs to keep them happy (obviously customer service reps for cable companies will struggle with this game.) You start out by serving water and directing people to a gridlike beach where each takes a square. You have limited time to deliver items before a customer gets angry and your customer ranking drops to zero (like a cable rep). If you complete this task in time you get a tip which can be used to buy supplies and additional shops. Before long you'll be flipping burgers, selling clothes, renting boats, and selling mixed drinks. Basically that's it.
There's a backstory about competing against some pro but it's useless since you're not competing against anyone in the game. You're just trying to multitask through the numerous different requests in time to get to the next level. What saves the game are some easy, but still interesting minigames within. For instance, serving water isn't just clicking a person then the water fountain, what happens is a bar moves from a tip level from 1 to 5 and back. You need to hit ok at the top of the level in order to maximize your tip. If you've ever played a golf game, the premise is similar. Other games have you choosing the "odd man out" from a list of like items. Placing a beach umbrella next a person while serving them will also increase your tips. Between the numerous requests and your attempts to maximize your tip the action can get hectic. As you progress, you can hire additional staff to assist you in serving drinks and cleaning up along the way.
Beach Party Craze isn't bad but it is rather simplistic. The customers don't do much except demand things, pay you money, then leave. My problem with many casual games nowadays is the have the feel of being churned out en masse and comparing this game to the much more involved Virtual Resort is a perfect example. After about a quarter of the way thorough, the limited tasks in Beach Party Craze make the game seem repetitive and about halfway through it starts to feel like a chore. Giving you the irrelevant "level-ups" and additional shops doesn't mean much when you're doing the same task whether you're selling clothes, renting boats, or serving drinks. Still, the pacing is easy enough that you should be able to complete each level without replay but challenging enough to make mastering each level difficult. For that reason I recommend this game.Beach Party Craze Overview

Cake Mania 2 ReviewWhen you first start playing you immediately start thinking about he game Diner Dash, but after a while you start thinking "no this game is totally different". The customers (of which there is a wide variety), will keep you on your toes. You have to make cakes, put on icing and a topping then give it to the customers, not to mention the double and triple layered cakes. While doing that you have to keep the customers happy and they range from a temperamental astronaut to a cake happy sumo wrestler (they love double portions) as well as some secret service men. Coffee Rush ReviewAnarchy Studios has recently gotten its laurels from another series of games they created, the 'Redrum' series of hidden object games, which were very straight-forward. However, the 'Coffee Rush' series while it does have its playability and fun factor can sometimes leave the gamer ableit scratching his head every now and again.
I have played a great deal of Match-3 titles, such as 'Cursed House'. 'Puzzle Quest' and Puzzle Quest 2'. I have even played up the end 'Pizza Chef 2', which was another puzzle game though different in concept.
The mechanics of 'Coffee Rush' have been intermingled with that of a time management style format, with serving customers the coffee of their choice. As you play and earn tokens, you gain more coffee receipes that will bring you larger revenues that you can buy in the store, as well as treats to keep customers from walking out. Very simple and to-the-point. Here are some of the things that are not straight to the point. To start, the Match-Three can be somewhat frustrating. I have played numerous levels where you have to literally hunt for what you need and there is a good chance that you may not find what you need in that moment. Therefore, you end up making a lot of matches of what you may not need. Secondly, the patience level of your customers is a little difficult to work with. You can buy power-ups in the store, but they only give you a certain amount at any given time. Once you run out, if your customer is in a bad state and about to walk out, you will have to spend even MORE time looking for power-up combinations within the grid.
'Coffee Rush', by far, is not a bad game but also not a great game. It had a lot of potential and the first incarnation needed some more spit-and-polish before Anarchy Studios released it. But, if you want a good time-waster while waiting for something or someone, this will be very good for at least doing that.Coffee Rush Overview

Sally's Salon ReviewI bought Sally's Salon for my niece's 9th birthday last year. In the 11 months since, I think I've played it even more than she has -- and that's a lot! The better you serve your customers, the happier they are and the bigger your tips. The more quickly you serve your customers, the more customers you have in a day and the more money you earn to shop for additional chairs, upgrades, and staff. It's so fun, but a bit addictive (when I installed it, I decided to "try it out" so I could help my niece learn it; when I finally looked up, I realized that I had been playing for nearly 6 hours!!). Cake Mania: Main Street ReviewThis is a great improvement over the other Cake Mania games. In this version, you have the Cake Shop as well as a flower shop, burger and sushi shop. Thats like 4 games for the price of 1! As you go along in the game, you can also upgrade the town, bringing in even more money. Plus your shops earn money even when you're not there. All in all, a great new game and highly addicting! I will say this though, the flower shop got a little too hard for me to keep up with, but aside from that the rest was challenging enough yet beatable.Cake Mania: Main Street Overview

Cake Mania ReviewThe purpose of the game is to make money buy baking and selling cakes. It's your mission in life because the 'big box' store were unfair competition and, by working hard, you will outcompete them.
The customers will order a specific shape and frosting and they will pay you once the product is delivered. You get a tip if you deliver the cake in a timely fashion or you may lose the customer if you make them wait for too long.
The cycle goes like this:
- hand over the menu
- the customer picks shape and frosting
- bake the requested shape
- apply the frosting
- hand it over to customer
- pick up the money
It gets pretty frantic once you have more than 2 customers waiting and you need to optimize and multitask. You are successful if you meet your dollar target by the end of the day. The pace gets increasingly frantic as the game progresses.
That's just about it.
I can't say that the game has a high replay value and, unless someone is absolutely determined to run through the same repetitive cycle at a frantic pace, the motivation to advance is not that great.
On the good side, the graphics are okay in a cartoon/comics-style way. I'm afraid there's not much else to say. I don't believe I will play this game again. In fact, since neither my 6 yr. girl or my tween boys expressed any interest in it, I will probably uninstall it. Which, by the way, it's okay because I can always get it back from my Amazon-maintained downloads library.Cake Mania Overview

Build-a-lot ReviewEver dreamed of building your own real estate empire with no money down? If yes, then this is your opportunity because the game is free and all you do in it is build houses and make lots of money. Once you make your money you can spend it to buy more houses, upgrade existing ones or build something new or tear down a small house and build a bigger one in its place - very exciting.
You play to make as much money as possible by playing in the real estate market as a developer, a speculator or a house flipper. You start with a certain amount of money and some properties and then, on each level you attempt to accomplish some specific goal: own this many houses, earn this much rental income, have this much money in the bank. You make money by selling the properties you developed and by charging rent. The value of your property increases if you pay for upgrades. To make it short, you buy low and sell high and you flip your houses. Oh, I forgot, you must meet your objectives within some set time unless you select the 'relaxed' mode.
Overall it's not a bad game but there's not much to it beyond what I just described above. The resolution seems to be 1024x768 and you can play it in a window or as 'full screen'. The graphics are okay in the sense that the houses, the roads and the landscape features are recognizable but, for some reason, the construction guy is an animated yellow hard hat - funny. The game runs on Windows XP or Vista.
I am not sure what a fair rating would be for a game that's free. It' okay, I guess, but I doubt that most of us are going to spend more than 30 minutes on it.

I had to install Amazon's 'downloader' software before downloading the game itself. It was pretty quick and it appears to be harmless.
