Command and Conquer Generals ReviewC&C Generals is definitely one of the best RTS games there ever has been. And with the low price for the game and the expansion, this is a great deal.
Generals was a very solid game. A good challenge with excellent graphics and gameplay. the only problem I had was the difficulty settings. If you play this on easy, it was too easy. It you played it on hard, it was extremely hard. Other than that, the only other thing would be that I wouldn't reccommed this game if your computer is below the following: P3 1000mhz, 256 ram, 64meg video card. It was quite laggy, but playable. I upgraded to a P4 2.8mhz, 256ram, 128meg video card and this game played great on the highest settings.
You also get the expansion pack Zero Hour which I believe is the second best expansion pack ever (behind only Warcraft 3).
You get 15 more missions that are pretty challenging with more units, maps, and just plain fun.
There is also something called the Generals challenge which allows you to choose 1 of 9 different generals and you play against the other generals in 7 different battles (they mix them up depending on which general you choose). And this is quite challenging (again, don't play this on easy as it is too easy) and very fun. You can also use these generals for games vs the computer opponents or for on-line/LAN play. The generals give you more units and buildings. this expansion pack is what really makes this game rock. Alot of replay value here.
If you haven't gotten any of the C&C Generals games yet, here is your chance to get the whole thing at a great price and enjoy a great game.Command and Conquer Generals Overview

Diablo 2 Expansion: Lord of Destruction ReviewMany people complain about the high price of the Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (LOD) Expansion set. To do so, I think, is to miss the point. You buy the game to play it, and its playability is what matters. People tend to think that an "expansion" merely adds a "10% more" to a game - but the fact is, LOD adds so much to the original game that you will probably never look back. Why would you give up a doubled stash? The 800x600 resolution pestered for way back in 2000 when D2 Classic was released? Instant switching between two sets of weapon/shield? New class-specific items, new uniques, greatly improved set items (gain bonuses as you collect each item, instead of having to complete them), elite items, runes (and runeword items), crafted items (i.e. make your own rares)? Two new classes (a druid who can summon creatures, cast elemental spells and shapeshift; an assassin who practises martial arts, lays traps and hones shadow disciplines), and an entire new act set in a wintry landscape (bunnies included)? Afraid to play alone? Don't worry, now your hirelings survive more than their first hit, and can be equiped with weapons and armour - they can even teleport when you walk too far! And some even have paladin auras! And they can be resurrected! How about little little details like: you can now reset the gambling screen at will; gambling prices scale with your level; a repair-all-equiped items button; blue items now get the most powerful prefixes/suffixes, giving them renewed value; click an item on the Horadric Cube to place it inside (you have to do it to realise the convenience); Act 2 Desert Warrior hirelings cast paladin auras; Act 5 Barbarian hirelings use Stun and Bash; town NPCs now sell more items; Act-end bosses can now be repeatedly killed for chance to find top items (in D2 Classic, great stuff only drops once); you can walk through your hirelings/minions (no more traffic jams in the Maggot Lair)... and the list goes on.Let's be honest though - everyone knows that the game code is not perfect; it has its bugs. Few games (especially of this scale) can claim to be bug-free. But despite this, the game is totally playable. I myself have not stopped playing D2 since June 30, 2000. The important thing to savour is the fact that the developers, Blizzard, are keen on resolving technical problems and gamneplay issues: think about it - Blizzard has released NINE patches to date. This may seem to suggest that the game is wrought full of bugs, but change your perspective - what it ultimately says is that its developer is conscientious enough to keep working at it. How many software developers can claim this level of diligence?Ultimately, the game is super-fun. As I suggested in my review of Diablo 2 (Classic), the game rewards all kinds of players, from the undiscerning clicker to the meticulous strategist - that is one of Blizzard's secret ingredients: allowing every style of player to find something that suits them in the game, and yet never fully satisfying them. I suppose that's why, after countless games, my wife is still trying to perfect her (deceptively simple?) mace-stunner barbarian...Diablo 2 Expansion: Lord of Destruction OverviewNew Characters:Assassin -- The Order of Mage Slayers was formed after the Vizjerei survived the tragedy brought on by Bartuc and Horazon. Their purpose was to watch for rogue magi that may become corrupted by the forces of Evil. To be effective at this task they were trained in abilities that were not conducive to Demonic corruption. Living as rumor and myth to the general population, even other magi knew very little about this mysterious order. Their reputation was shrouded in mystery and t

Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour Expansion Pack ReviewAlthough Generals added a new standard of graphics and several new and interesting departures from the original C&C game design, it was something less than revolutionary. Zero Hour goes a long way toward addressing this issue, and really turns Generals into a completely new game.
The expansion adds a new campaign for each side, with about 5 missions each. The campaign is interesting, and adds a few new elements, but is actually not the best part of the expansion. There are full motion video cutscenes (reporters talking about what's going on) to add some depth to the story, which is pretty straightforward stuff that could happen sometime in the near future (though we hope not). The missions add unique buildings and locations, all well done, as well as objectives that are pretty fun to carry out. Some of them are quite difficult, and there are a few stealth commando missions that Generals sadly lacked. There's also some campaign-only powers, such as the ability to call in battleship artillery and carrier strikes in one of the USA missions.
The real meat of the expansion starts with the new units and upgrades. Each side has new things, some of which go a long way toward filling holes in the armies' capabilities. China, for example, gets some much-needed surveillance by way of the Internet Center, and a worthwhile stealth detector in the Listening Post. Frenzy, a new general power, increases the firepower and armor of units for a brief time. China also gets added airborne firepower with the Helix and the ability to carpet bomb. The GLA gets several low-tech solutions, most of which are still geared toward outmaneuvering rather than outgunning the opposition. The Battle Bus, however, can pack quite a punch in a frontline role. Fake structures, a sometimes-useful throwback from Red Alert, can also be purchased. More interestingly, they can be upgraded into real ones, which is a nice way to play with an opponent's mind. The USA gets a powerful base defense with the Fire Base, which is garrisonable, effective against infantry, and doesn't need power to shoot. They also get a mobile anti-air unit in the Avenger, making it unnecessary for you to bring weak Missile Defender-packed Humvees along in future battles. Three new tech structures are also added- the Repair Bay (repairs all your ground units), Artillery Platform (shoots at enemies with a howitzer), and Reinforcement Pad (produces a tank on a countdown).
The upgrades and units are standard expansion fare, but Zero Hour adds something else- new generals, each with their own combat styles, units and powers, and personalities. There are three for each side- Air Force, Lasers, and Superweapons for the USA; Toxins, Camouflage, and Demolitions for the GLA; and Nukes, Tanks, and Infantry for China. Each of these has a doctrine that you must adhere to if you wish to use them effectively, and have weaknesses that hold you to it. For example, the US Air Force general cannot make tanks, but has aircraft cost reduced, unique and better air units, and a point defense laser on all airplanes that along with the standard countermeasures upgrade makes them practically immune to missile fire. China's tank general can build the Emperor Overlord, which is the newest and baddest vehicle on the ground. The GLA camouflage general can make literally everything invisible to the unaided eye, and turns the GLA into a real guerilla army (his Scud Storms are especially scary). All of these generals can be used in skirmish or multiplay, and there is a special 'generals challenge' campaign in which you pick one and play against all others. Your opponent is always on territory that favors their doctrine, and it can get pretty tough. This is a great way to accustom yourself to the various generals and pick your favorite, and is also quite fun since your opponents continuously taunt you during the games.
It's worth mentioning that several nice tweaks have been added to the engine. For example, fighters on an airbase will automatically attack nearby enemies, and both superweapons and scouting powers (e.g. radar van scans) appear as a sidebar icon with a number indicating how many are ready, if it's more than one. This makes it no longer necessary to separately hotkey practically every unit you have. Multiplayer options have been added, such as how much cash to start with, and no superweapons. The already excellent graphics have been improved, with even more fantastic fireballs, flotsam and jetsam, and better water effects. The result is undoubtedly the most graphically appealing RTS out there, though you might need a new video card if you want to run at max detail.
In summary, Zero Hour is for all intents and purposes a completely new game. Some have argued that it is what Generals should have been from the start, but I'm glad EA took the time to do a good job on this rather than rushing it for release. I honestly have no complaints about the expansion- it's one of the best ones I've seen for any game. It's a definite must for any Generals fan, and even if you weren't overly impressed with Generals, Zero Hour might just change your opinion.Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour Expansion Pack OverviewCommand & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour challenges you to face off against other military leaders using the most advanced arsenal in history!

Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe ReviewThings are often very relative in the gaming world. If CFS3 was actually Microsoft's first shot at a combat sim, it probably would merrit much higher reviews from the simming community and myself. After all, the game does boast an interesting campaign engine, a good variety of different planes to fly, including bombers and prototypical aircraft, some nice atmospheric effects, and the ability to man different positions on the bombers. Of course, many of these pro's have already been implemented in other WW2 combat sims of years past.
Unfortunately, this is not Microsoft's first shot and those of us who have loyally followed their series of flight sims, both combat and civilian, expect a certain progression with each new release. I, myself, was extremely pleased with said progression in both FS2002 and CFS2. Both games, I felt, learned from the mistakes of their predecessors, but at the same time, remained faithful to the series. And both greatly enhanced the look and feel of flight simming while not expecting too much from the machines they ran on. This is where CFS3 fails in my eyes.
So here are my major beefs.
Graphics: Where did they dream up this graphics engine? It looks and feels more like a first-person shooter than a flight sim. Is this really CFS3 or am I playing Counterstrike on a very wacky map? Sure it has nice clouds, but this game just does not have the visual cohesiveness of FS2002 nor CFS2. The virtual cockpits just don't look as good as in CFS2. The ground objects are also out of proportion to the aircraft. Do a little low-level strafing and things just don't look right.
Performance: My biggest gripe. If this new graphics engine was supposed to provide better performance by utilizing the video card more, they blew it. I have a P4 1.9ghz, 512mb rambus, with a TI4600 128mb Geforce4 and, with NO programs running in the background, the game stutters - especially when firing the guns. UNACCEPTABLE. The game just doesn't look good enough to justify such a drop in performance.
Damage models: These were supposed to be greatly improved. If so, I don't see it. Every plane I have shot down follows the same annoying pattern: pour tons of rounds into any part you like and eventually the whole plane blows up. No pieces of wings falling off, no tails detaching, no engines blowing, just one big boom. Would someone please go back to 1998 and look at the damage models in Activision's Fighter Sqadron? They did it right.
AI: I am getting so sick of computer pilots that have the uncanny ability - even as novices - to maintain control and maneuverability of their aircraft when you have damaged them, when one little hit on your alieron from their guns renders your aircraft unflyable.
Selection of aircraft: It was very thoughtful of Microsoft to include some oddball prototypical aircraft in their selection, but why oh why, at the expense of planes like the B17, Do17, He111, Ju87, and ME110? This is Europe, right? Oh, and thanks for the lack of compatibility with CFS2 aircraft.
Yes, all my griping makes the game sound a lot worse than it actually is, but with all the used copies of CFS3 I've seen on auction sites and the number of bad reviews it's gotten from other users like myself, I think it's obvious that Microsoft has made a boo-boo or two on this one. Let's pray they don't use this graphics engine on FS2004.Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3: Battle for Europe OverviewAnti-aircraft fire blankets you. Blast debris hurls toward your propeller. And you wonder why you didn't join the navy. This ain't no free-flight, cloud-gunner, glory ride. This is ground assault: the real, gritty combat that can make or break a battle, and take your life in one massive explosion. Bombs shatter enemy airfields, trains, and tank columns as you streak across the European countryside in WWII's greatest planes, dodging small-arms fire, gripping your joystick with sweaty palms and white knuckles, pumped with adrenaline-living history.
As a U.S. Army Air Force, Royal Air Force, or Luftwaffe pilot in Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 3 you fly in the historical framework of the tactical air war in northwest Europe starting in mid-1943, but there's a significant difference. The skill and perseverance you and your squadron or Staffel bring to each battle can alter the tactical situation and the timeline of the campaign. This open-ended and flexible campaign means you can influence events, alter history, and extend the timeline to add new technology to your arsenal. How you handle these tactical and technological advantages will determine the outcome.
In Combat Flight Simulator 3, it's 1943, and no one knows what's going to happen.
New features include:

Enhanced campaign play sends you on involved tactical missions in a campaign where success or failure can move the frontline, influence the quality of equipment available, and even change the outcome of the war
New collection of 18 aircraft featuring bombers with crews (fly medium bombers and take control of the bombardier or gunner position), stunning 3-D cockpit detail, accurate performance and damage modeling, medium bomber operations, WWII state-of-the-art aircraft (including the first jet fighters)
Custom graphics engine powers super-high detail ground-attack targets and improved scenery with enhanced 3-D modeling and texturing
Cooperative multiplayer missions and free-for-all dogfights via the Internet and LAN
Reactive world: areas of the campaign world will trigger events, spawn aircraft, generate flak, etc. in response to your presence
Role playing elements: pilots have qualities like Bombing Skill, Vision, and Health
Strategy: you make decisions that influence how the war is fought, where to put the pressure on the enemy, and what aircraft improvements are crucial to the war effort

The Witcher Enhanced ReviewWere I a member of the gaming Industry right now, I would be shamed to be taught what gaming should look and feel like and how it should be marketed by a small Eastern European company. Who of the multi-billion gaming "giants" ever went back to improve a released game? Yet, there you have it: thanks to CDPROJECT gaming as an art-form is still alive and kicking!
This was the most awaited fantasy cRPG in the past 3 years. Not only did the original deliver, but even more work has gone into truly improving it.
THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL cRPG GAMES I HAD EVER PLAYED - AND NOW IT IS GORGEOUS!
The environments are detailed, realistic, and can be experienced from up close. Grass, flowers and tree branches moved in both FABLE and TITAN QUEST as well; these, however, seem so true I caught myself reaching for my...antihistamines! Weather affects and day-night alterations (you have to see the elongating shadows to believe them!) are just gorgeous! More importantly, these are not just eye-candy: certain NPCs and monsters appear only when the correct combination of time-of-day and weather coincide...The horizon is far and the clouds move in endless variations. It reminded me of the sky of the original UNREAL, another visually ground-breaking game at its time. PURE VISUAL MAGIC!
The character (Geralt) can master both sword-fighting and magic spells (what is known as a Warlock). To some die-hard RPG fans this may seem like heresy, nevertheless, keep in mind that multi-classing is not unheard off. The movement repertoire for both practices are impressively designed. Especially the sword-fighting, it is at par to any console action game. And the spells (both offensive and defensive ones) are not less impressive.
Free roaming? Yes and no. One can decide which parts of the map he will visit but loading is still needed to travel even annoyingly short distances. And since quests and side-quest still have to be completed, yes, eventually a subtle, yet ever present, directionality is present.
Looting and bartering? Aaah...yes, sort of. You practically never change the sword you start off with (although you do get to improve its abilities), whereas good armor is only a little easier to come by compared to PLANESCAPE. On the upside, you get to gamble, have romantic relationships (FABLE was full of great ideas after all!) and bribe for information, so trinkets have other uses as well.
Detailed character modifiers? Nothing like the AD&D rules. You gain talents (gold, silver & bronze) which you can spend to improve your fighting or magical abilities. Pretty much like the DIABLO or the TITAN QUEST abilities systems.
So, apart for the slight action-cRPG handicap, I have only two other objections. First, the...camera placement. Once more the atrocious Aurora Engine (remember NWN2...?) will keep auto-placing it where it is bound to get on your nerves - as it targets your character even if that is not the most logical option. Yes, this has indeed improved compared to the original but one cannot teach an old dog new tricks.
Second, the controls. They need getting used to as the fighting combos are still easily ruined by clicking out of sync. You do eventually get the hold of it, however it keeps glitching.
Nevertheless, its shortcomings are not enough to diminish the breath of fresh air this release brings to the scene. The Enhanced edition not only is a truly reworked game but it also comes full with detailed Manuals, beautiful Maps and all the extras that games used to come with in the good old days...

Whereas the BALDUR's GATES saga was story-heavy but (by today standards) visually wanting and the NEVERWINTER NIGHTS series was found, well, wanting in all aspects, THE WITCHER is the dream cRPG that BIOWARE was supposed to be capable of releasing all along but never did - and its current EA bedfellows surely put a stop to such aspirations now. That game, however, is finally here - and not from whom you would expect.
A tip of my hat to CDPROJECT for keeping the ART-FORM of Gaming alive. Well done indeed!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!The Witcher Enhanced Overview

Settlers: Rise of an Empire ReviewIf you've played Settlers 1 or Settlers 2, this would be very familiar for you.
1. Focused on building your econ & city planning.
2. Military is very small part, can only build swordsmen and archers. + some siege.
3. Graphics - it's good enough for game like this.
4. Music - very good actually, many different songs.
5. Multiple Generals for you to choose from, each with their own passive ability and special power. Actually makes a significant impact on the gameplay. This really increases the reply value.
6. Length - Haven't finish or gone very far yet. About mid game. Games like this there is plenty of replay value in it even after you finish the campaign.
Some issues:
1. Slow - there is no time adjusting or speed increase, so some parts does feel a bit slow. Nice to have a EGM or some magazine handy while playing.
2. Walling - Very difficult to wall correctly with the 3D terrain.
3. Very long saves, takes well over 1 minute for a save, at first thought my computer froze cause it took so long.
4. Military - Even though this is more of a sim game than RTS, the warfare could of been a little more deeper. Maybe an addition of Cavalry Unit or Kights to spice things up a bit.
Overall, it's an enjoyable game. Nothing major new, if you liked Settler 1 or 2, this one gives you more of it with minor improvements on the overall gameplay.Settlers: Rise of an Empire Overview

Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe DVD ReviewI am a general aviation pilot, flying single engine fixed wing Cessna type aircraft (4 seater). Flight Simulator X gives the feeling of actually piloting a plane. The plane responds to the controls much like "the real thing".
Like other reviewers, I must agree that you must have a great computer. I have a dual processor Pentium D 940 running 3.2 Ghz, 4 gb RAM, 512 mb NVIDIA graphic card. On my system, with maxed out graphics and scenery, it runs very well, with only an occasional slight bump in frame-rates. I am somewhat disappointed with the scenery, which is good in major cities, but still basic in the country-side. The terrain is good everywhere, but the structures lack detail in other than the cities. The detail on airport runways and taxiways is terrific! Aircraft list is extensive. I recommend it.Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe DVD Overview

ER Mania ReviewThe game is fun and somewhat educational about life in the emergency room. The characters are humorous to say the least.
The fatal bug is that you can't save your progress on the Mac version. It works fine and saves on Windows XP, but doesn't run on my installment of Windows Vista. Fritz Chess Tenth Edition ReviewYou may be wondering what this product is. It seems to be a new release of Fritz 10 for the U.S. market (it's described as Fritz 10 at the Viva Media website), and as such it sells at a reduced price compared to the latest version, Fritz 11.
With these new versions of Fritz, there is really nothing added at all. It's basically the same game as the previous version with a slightly improved chess engine. If you are simply looking for a playing partner, unless your at the Master level or higher, you're not going to get anything out of a stronger engine. But a stronger engine is of interest to people interested in analyzing chess games, because it will give a more accurate analysis of a position.
All versions of Fritz are not very friendly to the novice player. Chessmaster, despite its interface bugs, provides a better opponent for beginning and intermediate players, and Chessmaster also has much better tutorials. Fritz is NOT the product to buy if you don't know the rules of the game!
This product is a very good deal (especially if it's on sale) if you don't already own a version of Fritz and you are serious about chess.Fritz Chess Tenth Edition Overview

Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East ReviewTribes of East is the final chapter of the Heroes of Might and Magic V trilogy. Even though this expansion was not highly anticipated as its predecessor, Hammers of Fate, it was generally better received by the HMM5 internet community for competency issues. Ubisoft definitely put their best foot forward to ensure that all of the glitches were ironed out before releasing a buggy product (contrary to the original HMM5).
The GOOD!
* TOE IS A STANDALONE PRODUCT - This is a very convenient installation feature that allows you to install the product without owning any of the previous HMM5 products. No annoying prerequisite installations to worry about.
* TOE DOES NOT REQUIRE THE DISC TO RUN - Another convenient installation feature that allows you to launch the game with the DVD absent in your disc drive (Be warned: This feature could be unintended by Ubisoft as it was not advertised on the packaging and could be removed in a future patch).
* A NEW FACTION AND HERO - A strong majority of HMM5 fans were anticipating and begging for the arrival of the nomadic and savage faction known as the Orcs. Their Stronghold hosts a diverse array of units consisting of Goblins, Centaur, Warriors, Shamans, Slayers, Wyverns and Cyclopes. Under the command of an Orcish Hero (The Barbarian) these units can utilize a Bloodrage ability. This ability is accumulated in correlation to the amount of damage that unit inflicts and as a result will give the Orc units access to additional abilities (ie. Cyclops obtains a Fear Aura when obtaining Bloodrage level 3).
* AN ALTERNATE UPGRADE TO EVERY UNIT - This is a highly celebrated feature of ToE that adds a whole new dimension to the HMM5 gameplay. Whenever a creature dwelling is upgraded in a town, the player can choose between two different upgrades for the creature stack. (For example, after the player upgrades the Lich Dwelling in the Necropolis, he/she now has the choice of upgrading a Lich into an Arch Lich or a Lich Master.) As a result there are essentially 50% more creature types availible vastly opening the strategic diversity in a battle. In addition, there is also a "regrading" system allowing the player to interchange his/her units from one upgrade to the other. (For example, the player can pay to "regrade" a stack of Arch Liches into a stack of Lich Masters and vise versa so that the player is not forced to dedicate themselves to one upgrade type).
* SOME NEW INTERFACE FEATURES - Ubisoft did a fine job attuning their eyes and ears to consumer feedback by implementing some very convenient modifications to the user interface. The first one is the Kingdom Overview screen. This allows you to view hero and town details all in one screen without having to tediously cycle through all of them in the town view(a nice feature available in HMM3). In fact you can even access the build menus from here greatly speeding the pace for multiple town management. The second is a "Wait" button in battle menu, something that was highly desired since the original since HMM5. There are a couple more minor features in ToE that smooth out the gameplay but I do not wish to go into them all in great detail.
* PLENTY OF NEW ARTIFACTS, AND ARTIFACT SETS - The new artifacts offered by ToE are well balanced and function specific bestowing a very strategic use for each one. Many of the original artifacts along with some new ones are components of artifact sets. For each set artifact that the hero equips, he/she receives additional bonuses. (For Example: if the hero equips 2 artifacts from the Dragon Set he/she receives +1 to all hero parameters in addition to the original artifact bonuses. If the hero equips 4 artifacts from the Dragon Set he/she also receives +5 attack and all tier 7 creatures in the army receive +20 HP).
* THE GRAPHICS - Despite the 18 month disparity between the release dates of HMM5 and ToE, this game is not a hair more graphic intensive. This means that the consumers of HMM5 who met bare minimum specs will not have to purchase a whole new PC or upgrade their hardware just to run this game. However, Ubisoft did include a couple new display settings to tailor to wide screen monitors and laptops.
* GOOD MAP EDITOR CONTENT - ToE has a batch new terrain types along with a slew of new interactive and decorative doodads. This greatly diversifies the amount of creativity involved when creating a new map with the map editor.
* FAN CONTENT MATERIAL - This aspect alone illuminates the high level of appreciation that Ubisoft has for their online community. ToE comes included with a 300 plus page .pdf manual that breaks down the specifics for every creature statistic, spell formula, artifact bonus, and just about every concept involved with this game. This manual is pretty much the holy bible to the HMM5 series and is compiled by a very credible fan base known as the "Age of Heroes" community.
The BAD!

* NOT SO INTELLEGENT ARTIFICIAL "INTELLEGENCE" - This is the sole reason I gave ToE a 4-star rating in the "Fun" category. I feel that a competent A.I. is an imperative necessity for the turn-based strategy genre and throughout the whole HMM5 trilogy I have been pretty disappointed. I don't think this is the worst A.I. ever coded into a PC game but it is apparent that Ubisoft neglected to invest the proper amount of time in their A.I. so it can adapt, prioritize, and strategize in specific situations. I simply do not feel like the A.I. is a comparable opponent unless it is set on higher difficulties where it will flagrantly "cheat" (by receiving extra resources, experience, etc) making you lose that feeling of being in a battle of wits.
* NO NEW NEUTRAL CREATURES - With the release of every HMM expansion pack I always look forward to utilizing new mercenary creatures that are not affiliated with the 8 main factions. I was hoping that they'd bring back classics like the Medusas, Efreeti, Beholders, Basilisks, among many others. Don't hold your breath as there is not a single new neutral creature in ToE.
* TOO FEW NUMBER OF NEW MULTIPLAYER MAPS - With the creation of several new terrain types and the numerous addition of interactive doo-dads, I expected Ubisoft to work their creative team to the bone to pump out new maps and scenarios. Unfortunately that was not the case as there were only 4-6 new custom maps with this expansion. However, there are many 3rd party sites that provide multi-player maps and single player scenarios for download.
OVERALL: ToE has exceeded my expectations. If Ubisoft spends the proper time to revamp the A.I.(or maybe scrap it completely and start from square one) and release more multiplayer maps in a future patch then this will be a virtually flawless product. It is obvious that the numerous PROS of ToE outweigh the potentially rectifiable CONS. ToE's new features do a good job enhancing the gameplay mechanics providing a highly crafted but fluid turn-based strategy experience. For that reason, this game is worthy of the 5-star rating and is definitely worth buying for any casual or diehard fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic series. On the flipside, people new to the franchise might want to pick up a precursor title first.

Jack 5.0 Computer Bridge Software ReviewWhether you want to compete in a virtual tournament, play random deals or generate deals that meet your criteria, Jack is a complete computer bridge program for players at all levelS. For example, in a team tournament you can start off at the B level competing against other teams in a series of matches. After the competition is completed you move up or down depending on your results. Professor Jack can analyze your play and give tips both on bidding and play. You strive to play and stay at the championship level. If you choose, plays and calls are announced by Barry Westra, a Dutch brige pro. Also, many tournaments are included with freguency charts. Jack bridge plays SAYC, 2/1 Game Force, ACOL, Precision, etc. through built in convention cards with approximately 100 conventions. You can create your own convention card. It supports network play and has fast double dummy play. Scoring can be based on match points, total points or imps. You can print out results. Jack is constantly improving the program and within the version there are no charges for upgrades. In the annual battle of computer programs Jack is the winner in most years. Customer support is terrific. I play 2/1 game force and disagreed with a bidding sequence and e-mailed Jack. Promply, I received a reply setting forth the rationale for the bidding sequence with a satisfactory explanation. I note that the Dutch Jack programmers attend the ACBL National Tournaments and are doing quite well in the events. For myself, I am presently a Bronze Life Master and constantly improving my bridge game through Jack. In tournament play, it is a constant challenge to move up in class. Highly reccommended. Started off with Bridge Barron but have switched to Jack and glad I did so. It is an incredible bridge computer program.Jack 5.0 Computer Bridge Software Overview

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ReviewThe version (2.0) has been altered to 'remove' the ability to 'hot coffee' mod the program.
This version (2.0), while still containing the violence, language, and sexual references was altered to remove the ability to de-clothe' the characters within the game.
The original release could be altered.
The version (2.0) was released due to a small public outcry about the nudity. AND a few 'activities' that are going on while in the 'nude'.....
Strange when you can remember the reasons why they tried to ban Grand Theft Auto 3 all those years ago.
This time around they don't even mention violence.
They are mad now because kids can see people 'nekkid'.

SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition with Rush Hour Expansion Pack ReviewYou don't have to be a gamer to appreciate SimCity 4. If you have the hand-eye coordination to browse a website, you're covered there. You don't need a great sense of spatial relations with the various levels of zoom. You don't need to be able to make split-second decisions with the possible exception of quickly hitting the pause button. You don't need many of the traditional computer gamer skills to enjoy SimCity 4.
What you do need is the ability to make risk-benefit decisions, and a sense of how the real world works. You need to know, for example, that people with a few bucks in their pockets don't choose to live next to a factory, and you need to understand whether it's better to spend money to build a fire station now, or risk having to rebuild if you wait.
One thing that SimCity 4 does real well is it's simulation of how a government budget works. If, for example, you build an infrastructure that appropriately supports your city, you'll find that funding everything at 100% would require raising taxes beyond what the residents and business owners will stand for. Pretty soon you'll see abandoned residential, commercial and industrial properties. That means your tax base goes down, and you'll have to raise taxes even further.
If you take the alternative and cut the funding to your infrastructure so you can lower taxes, you'll be faced with teachers, fire fighters, police, transit and healthcare worker strikes, and satisfying them enough to bring them back to work will cost you more than appropriate funding would have.
Just when you think you've found that balance between funding your infrastructure and your tax rate, the power plant and roads you originally built start reaching the end of their lives, and you need to replace them. (You were building up a surplus you can tap into, weren't you?)
While your budgetary problems may consume you, there are other factors to consider. A big one is transportation. Sims don't like rush hour traffic any more than you do - and probably less. If you let commutes get too bad, the Sims will stop going to work. You'll either need bigger roads, more efficient mass transit, or you'll need to move the factories and residential areas closer. But wait... Didn't we already establish that people don't like to live next to factories? Again you have to struggle to find a balance - and that balance needs to fit within your budgetary constraints, too!
SimCity 4 Deluxe includes the Rush Hour Expansion Pack. In addition to more transportation options, Rush Hour (and thus Deluxe) adds a "you drive it" feature that allows you to control cars, planes, helicopters, and other transports. If you're really getting into the planning and strategy of the game, these options are a distraction. But if you're showing your city to someone less interested in city planning, a you drive it mission may be a fun way to tour the city.
Something I would love to see in real life is instead of having candidates for public office debate each other, set them down in front of computers, and have them prove their ability to successfully build a working city in SimCity 4. The only governing skill SimCity 4 doesn't simulate well is the ability to work with others. I think we should be very worried about any big city mayor who isn't able to demonstrate their abilities by being successful in SimCity 4.SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition with Rush Hour Expansion Pack OverviewSimCity 4 Deluxe Edition turns you into a citizen, a criminal, an architect, a mayor, even a god -- bringing you deeper into SimLife than ever!As you create railways, ferries, plan out streets, you also get to use that transportation in a series of great new driving missions

Need For Speed: Underground 2 ReviewI don't know what it is about EA Games or whoever writes the Need for Speed series. Others have said that every other Need for Speed release is great and the other half stinks. Anyway, the last Need for Speed Underground (1) was a big disappointment, too much bling, bling, "you go girl" stuff, in addition to the software creators locking you out of tracks and cars until you complete certain tracks, very annoying... Once again, this game is a major improvement to the first of this series. Obviously the creators have listened and have opened up most of the cars and tracks and allow you to just cruise the city in whatever car you want. You can also upgrade the cars with mods to see if they help the performance. The graphics are excellent but at 1600 x 1200, they start to slow down my 3.06 GHZ, ATI 9800pro system. I find the graphics totally acceptable at 1280 x 1024 with max details. I really enjoy the game and find the physics to be very good. I'd say tat they could work on the feedback in the force feedback steering wheels to be more representative of oversteer/understeer, etc. I'd have to say that this game is an equal to Porsche Unlimited and I'm happy I bought it..Need For Speed: Underground 2 Overview

Fritz Chess 13 ReviewThis is basically a knock-off of the real Fritz 13 (green box) by ChessBase. No dealer will support this version and Viva Media's support is pretty well non-existent. It says it comes with Playchess.com the really cool chess playing server, well yeah, but only a month. SimCity 3000 Unlimited ReviewFor those who don't have SimCity 3000 already, SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the best way to get into the game. The game is nearly identical to the smash hit of 1999. All the same playability, the same city building challenges, etc.
For those who already own SimCity 3000, there are a number of new options that could make it worthwhile to upgrade. In fact, when you install Unlimited on a computer that already has the original 3000, you get the option to transfer over files (like all your old cities). It then even does the uninstall of the old product for you (very nice). Granted, Unlimited does chew up a bit more disk space so you should make sure you have room to spare for the new version.
I'd also suggest you try to get in while the rebate is going on. It will get you back $10 on the price of Unlimited. Then you won't feel so bad spending money on a game you basically already have. Then do what I did: give your old copy of SimCity 3000 to a family member to get them hooked on the game. Microsoft Flight Simulator X Standard DVD ReviewLet me get something of my chest first. I have noticed a lot of bad feedback on reviewers who give higher ratings to products that are developed by Microsoft. So just to make it clear - I am not reviewing Microsoft, I'm reviewing the simulator.
So.. how fun is this game? Well it's your system that can actually answer this question. This game is amazing from my point of view. I have used everything, from FS98 to latest X-Plane.. and nothing is as good as this.
The Good:
- Stunning graphics. This is the most beautiful game I have ever played. From the water effects to shadows from the plane.. every effect and particle is breathtaking.
- Gameplay. It is an amazing gameplay, indeed. You can now fly in any seat you like, control literally any view of the airplane, most of the cockpit controls work and function the way they are supposed to. The weather system is amazing.
- Multiplayer. This one speaks for itself: FUN FUN FUN. It is very entertaining since you get to see people from all over the world. However, there are few cons.. like the Bad ATC guys who often mislead you and cause you to crash etc. It was foggy, so I depended on A/P. I was told to turn 074R, which I did. I heard the ILS Frequency so I put it on APP but ultimately, I was put into wrong direction and as much as APP fought to align me to the right direction (while keeping up with sped and altitude) i still landed in the ocean.. and of course crashed (since you're not able to actually land on water in this game). Of course, there are plenty of pefect ATC's out there but even with few that are not as good it's still VERY fun to play. Try it and see for yourself.
The Bad:
- ATC. ATC has not changed much from FS2004 other than a new "window" that it displays in. Still no ability to declare an emergency which is sort of a disappoint since you ARE able to set engines to fail or to run out of fuel (or both). So.. if your engines die out on you don't you think you deserve a right to report the situation to ATC? LOL
- Crash dynamics. If you're hoping to be able to crash your plane into a mountain and see a giant explosion and earthquakes then I have to disappoint you. While I almost never crash in Flight Sims I still wish there were better crashing dynamics to make it more realistic. For example, if I land heavily on my nose I'd love to see my plane's nose gear to fail and act like it would in physics.
Also, why can't we have the ability to land on water? Boeing 737 CAN do that (if propely executed). Here, no matter what amazing pilot you are.. as soon as you touch the water - you crash. Oh well. It's a very small thing but I wish it was improved a bit.
The Ugly:
- System requirements. I agree with what many reviewers said - this game depends more on CPU than it does on video card. This game will most likely NOT work at the Max settings if you have a brand-name PC (eMachines, HP, Dell).
When I first installed the game I had AMD Sempron 3300 (2.01GHz); 2GB DDR, Radeon X1650 Pro with 512MB. I ran the CanYouRunIT tool from System Requirements Lab.. the report said that I exceed RECOMMENDED requirements and should have a great experience with the game. I didn't really believe that since I have a 3rd class CPU but I played FS2004 and HL2 on the HIGHEST settings with absolutely NO lags so I thought it would work fine.
I was.. wrong. The game was not playable unless I set all of the aircraft, transport and texture settings to Minnimum Low. It lagged horribly on my native resolution of 1680x1050 32 which I had to put into 1440x900 16bit.
I purchased a new video card which is Geforce GTX 8800 with 740mb of RAM and can now play without any lags on my native resolution with settings set to Medium High but still not maxed out. Why? Because this game needs CPU. In this case, the CPU is the heart not the video card. If you buy it make sure to get the SP1 for this ASAP.. there are few performance updates which could be crucial if your video card or CPU isn't the best.
So to wrap up - I highly recommend this simulator to any Aerolover as myself. But make sure you have a GOOD CPU and card. If you have them you'll find yourself spending hours and hours flying above gorgeous landscapes, commmunicating with people all over the world, surviving a dead engine and/or faulty mechanics and generally having fun. This amazing software is both entertaining and educational.Microsoft Flight Simulator X Standard DVD Overview

Command And Conquer Generals Deluxe Edition - Windows ReviewFirst, I want to say this game ROCKS. I recently repurchased it because I wanted a game worthy of my time. My very favorite aspect is that it favors brain over brawn--with the (possible) exception of the Chinese Overlord Tank, there is nothing you can spam to blindly charge and overcome everything. But if you pick the right units and manage them smartly, you can acheive Spartan-like dominance. Last night I sent over 200 GLA basic infantry at a Patriot Missle embankment of 10 or 12 units, and moved at least 3 dozen rocket buggies around for a flank attack. My opponent saw my buggies with his UAV scouts, and killed them all with a handful of commanche helicopters (buggies have no air defense), while my AK47's and suicide bombers were slaughtered by his missile turrets (they're not meant to fight defense buildings). In the next minute he lost 6 commanches and 2 tanks to my 6 RPG troops bunkered in a building. You CANNOT throw stuff blindly around and expect to win. I like having to think.
Since no other reviews on here seem to do this, let me briefly review my impression of each faction.
USA--these guys are about two things--communication, and precision. The U.S. start out with radar, and they're the only faction to do so. An early General ability is to drop a UAV scout over any point in the map, and as long as it's not detected/shot down it will stay there and show you that part of the map. In addition, the U.S. Command Center has an ability to do a radar sweep of an area at will. Finally, you can also have a detention center that will periodically allow you to see EVERYTHING your opponent does. Basically, the U.S. is Big Brother, and he's watching you. Even their defense systems communicate. If two or more Patriot Missile emplacements are close together, they can network to all fire at the same enemy--even if that enemy would normally be out of range for one of them.
The precision part shows up in the U.S. Arsenal. The Pathfinder (sniper) can make quick work of infantry, and their big tank (The Paladin) has a slow-firing defense laser that can even stop a SCUD missile. They have a broad air force including a fighter jet and stealth bomber (both limited in use, in my opinion), an attack helicopter (commanche), and a supersonic bomber. The chopper can make quick work of any ground unit that's away from air defense, but is made of paper and goes down pretty easily. The Aurora bomber can put a nasty bomb anywhere you want it, being impossible to hit until it has dropped its payload. Even the U.S. superweapon is precise--the ion beam is mouse-controlled to affect a very specific area. In comparison to the other two weapons, this is pretty underwhelming--but the rest of the American arsenal makes up for it.CHINA--These guys are about brute force and strength in numbers. Their basic infantry, rocket infantry, and basic tank are all slightly weaker than their American counterparts, but they also get a "horde" bonus if you have a group of 5 or more close to one another. The Chinese don't start with radar; you have to build a separate building for that. While they don't have the map advantage that the U.S. does, their focus on specialty armor and artillery make them a formiddable foe. Their basic defense turret is a gattling cannon instead of a missile emplacement, so it deals much better damage to infantry and aircraft.
The Chinese have an air force, if a very limited one--they only have one plane, the MiG. It's slightly better in air combat than the U.S. fighter plane, and its missiles have a napalm effect--get a few of them to bomb the same ground target, and you get a nasty little firestorm effect that lasts for a little bit. The real stars in the Chinese arsenal are its artillery and the Overlord tank. Its basic artillery fires a napalm shell, and if you get a few of these guys going you get that same firestorm that makes for a handy no-man's land. This can put a sudden stop to any opposing land assault. If you don't want several basic artillery running around, you can also opt for one or two nuke cannons. They lob mini-nukes great distances, and they do severe damage with a radioactive lingering effect. The Overlord is a gigantic two-barreled tank, the heaviest ground unit in the game. It can be upgraded with a healing tower, an infantry bunker, or a pair of gattling cannons for air and infantry defense. While not such a star, the Chinese gattling tank is also a force to be reckoned with. Basically, this armor-centric arsenal is designed to punch through and mow down anything in their path. If you preferred the Orcs from Warcraft 3, these guys are for you. Their superweapon also demonstrates this--while consuming a great amount of power, the Nuke is the Big Ugly of the super weapons and leaves a long-lasting radioactive effect over a large radius.GLA--These poor guys don't have map-hack skills or brute force. They're the ragtag, the rebels, the little people, and very difficult to play with--I'll spend a bit more time on them so you can see how they work. They also, unsurprisingly, don't start with radar--you have to get the vehicle for that. The extra delay of having to build a vehicle depot means that the GLA goes the longest in any game without radar, and this makes you feel pretty vulnerable starting out. There's also a consistent sense of being broke, at least early on. The USA uses its mighty Chinooks to get supplies, and the Chinese use their supply trucks. The GLA uses slaves. They don't take as long to collect supplies, but they move more slowly and carry less. And they complain.
Despite these difficulties, the GLA is surprisingly viable as a fighting force--instead of brute force or precision strikes, they excel at map control and generally annoying the crap out of your opponent. They're very versatile--unlike the USA and China, they do not require power plants to keep any of their buildings running, so you never have to worry about support for your buildings. This allows you to decentralize greatly, to great effect. For example, troops will not automatically attack most buildings, so destroying a base is cumbersome work. If you know which buidings to take out, you can cripple your opponent. If they can't find your important buildings or you have more than one, you can frustrate them greatly--especially if your base has defense buildings throughout. The GLA defense building is the stinger site, manned by a few rpg troops. These troops can be killed separately from the site itself, but over time they regenerate. If the stinger site itself is blown up, a tunnel hole is left, and you can quickly rebuild if the tunnel hole hasn't been destroyed. They also have a Tunnel Network building, which allows you to move up to 10 troops instantly to any other Tunnel Network building you own. This makes for a very fast reinforcement system to frustrate your opponents advance.
The GLA arsenal is almost entirely constructed of paper meche, but very cheap. In terms of infantry, the best unit is the mob. Starting with 5 civilians with guns (and later, AK47s), this unit gets larger over time and is very hard to kill. They use Molotov cocktails on buildings and vehicles, to great effect. The GLA armor division is also very ragtag. Quad Cannons are like a paper version of the Gattling tank, and even the Marauder tank can't really hold its own against other armor. But, both of these can upgrade their guns to great effect by "salvaging" the remains of enemy tanks you kill. You can also get a "junk" upgrade that lets your fighting armor repair itself on the fly, which is really handy. For artillery, you have a rocket buggy (which has range juuust longer than that of defensive buildings) and the SCUD Launcher, what I consider to be as good as the Chinese Nuke Launcher. It doesn't fire as far, but it hits hard and it's not nearly as cumbersome. And you never know when it will pop out of a tunnel network. Finally, the GLA have the truck bomb--yes, manned by a suicide bomber. This can be disguised as an enemy armor unit, and your opponent has to manually click on it to undo the camouflage. He'll see this coming when you attack him--but defensively, it can make a significant difference very quickly. And of course, the GLA have no air force at all. Their Superweapon is the SCUD storm, a toxic wannabe Nuke shower that still covers a large area and hurts worse than the USA superweapon.Command And Conquer Generals Deluxe Edition - Windows Overview

World Of Warcraft Expansion: Burning Crusade ReviewThis expansion pack introduces the new continent of Outland. This continent can only be accessed with a character that is at least level 58. If you're either just starting to play World of Warcraft, or you have no characters even close to level 58, you may just want to wait to buy the expansion at a later time.
However, the expansion also grants you access to two new races, the Draenei (Alliance) and the Blood Elves (Horde). You won't be able to create characters of either of these races if you don't have the expansion. So, if you want to play one of them you'll need to get it. If you're a new player who's just trying out the game, I'd suggest just getting the basic version and playing one of the original races, rather than spending the extra $40 before you even know whether you like the game.
You should also be warned that if you're upgrading from the original version of the game, even if your copy is already fully patched, you'll have to install the patches again after installing Burning Crusade. This is because they printed the CDs with version 2.0 of the client you use to play the game, but they've issued patches after that which you need to log into the server (up to version 2.05 as of this writing). If you look in the Patches sub-folder of your World of Warcraft folder on your computer, you should already have some of the patches present and be able to simply double click them to install. If you were to try to log in before doing that, you'll have to redownload the patch before it installs instead, which will naturally take more time.
Some people have complained about lag, crashes, and lines to log into the more popular servers. These are all short term problems. A lot of people are very excited about the expansion, and so there are far more players than usual logged in at once, which is straining the servers. Give it a week or two after release and it should begin to settle down.
For the basic version of WoW, the level cap is 60. If you install the expansion, the cap is increased to 70. If you have a level 60 character and want to continue to advance, you MUST upgrade your account with the expansion pack.
Additional level brackets for the Battlegrounds (Player vs Player areas) have been added to accomodate the new higher levels in the game. Also, a new battleground called Eye of the Storm has been made available for characters of level 61 and above. Additionally, around the zones of the new Outland continent, there are PvP tasks you can perform such as taking over control of towers, with the faction that controls all of the towers in a zone gaining a small bonus such as a 5% increase to damage anywhere in that zone.
They've also added a number of new instances/dungeons. The new ones have two settings, allowing you to go through them at either 'normal' difficulty, or 'heroic' difficulty. The heroic setting makes the enemies tougher, and provides increased treasure rewards. This keeps the instances useful for advancement over a larger span of levels than would normally be the case.
Most players will find that, as they do quests in Outland, they quickly begin to get armor that's superior to what they've previously been using. The monetary rewards in the new areas are also increased. Additionally, professions have been expanded to cover the additional levels in the game and tailoring has been expanded to include specialties similar to the way blacksmithing and leatherworking work.
Flying mounts are available on the continent of Outland for those who purchase them. However, these are not available to be used in the two original continents. This is because those areas were designed with the intention that they would only be accessed from the ground and a lot of work would have been required to make all of the quests and visuals work as intended if characters were permitted to fly around freely.
Be cautious about buying this item used. Each copy of the expansion includes a key code that is required to upgrade your account to allow access to the new content. If you buy a used copy of the software where the seller has already used that key to upgrade his account, you'll still be able to install the software upgrade, but the lack of an unused key will mean that you won't be able to apply the upgrade to your account that's required to actually access the new content.
If you install the expansion on a computer where more than one account is used (for example, if you and your spouse each has your own account) then you can only use the key to upgrade one of those accounts. The other account will continue to work, but it will not be given access to the expansion pack content. Therefore, you need to obtain one expansion pack for each account you or your household has if you want to access the new content on all of them.
Edit: As of January 22, 2007 Blizzard has announced on their forums that they're working on allowing players who already upgraded using the basic expansion to then also upgrade using the collector's edition in order to get the limited edition pet. You'll have to call Blizzard's billing service line with the unused collector's edition expansion key, so it's slightly more work than upgrading directly with the CE, but it can now be done.World Of Warcraft Expansion: Burning Crusade OverviewBlizzard Entertainment took online role playing by storm with their hit title, World of Warcraft. With mind-boggling improvements in graphics, gameplay networking, and interface -- really every category -- this game became the crown prince of the genre. World of Warcraft players will be excited by the approaching release of the new expansion pack: World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. This pack expands the already massive, award-winning multiplayer online role-playing game by tremendous bounds, adding new races, lands, battlegrounds, professions and items, and much, much more. Although no release date has been set, here is sample of what you can expect from The Burning Crusade.
The expansion pack features an increase in the level cap to 70. There are two new playable races, including the magical Blood Elves that you can read more about below. The other race has not yet been released by Blizzard. There will be new starting zones in Quel'Thalas and beyond. Another eye-opening addition is the entirely new, unexplored continent of Outland that is reachable through the Dark Portal. Plus, you'll find many new high-level dungeons to explore in Azeroth, Outland, and elsewhere that will substantially boost gameplay. There are new flying mounts in Outland; tons of new and dangerous monsters (including epic world bosses); hundreds of new quests and items; and even a new profession: Jewelcrafting. Of course this isn't the end of the list -- this is just a glimpse of what Blizzard has planned for their unreleased expansion pack.

The New Story, the Rumors, and More Several years have passed since the Burning Legion's defeat at Mount Hyjal and the races of Azeroth have continued to rebuild their once shattered lives. With renewed strength, the heroes of the Horde and Alliance have begun to explore new lands, and have broken through the Dark Portal to investigate the realms beyond the known world. In this expansion pack, The Burning Crusade refers to the Burning Legion's ongoing efforts to destroy life on Azeroth. To date, the Burning Legion's exploits have been documented in Warcraft III and in the War of the Ancients novel trilogy. As part of the expansion pack, players will now be able to travel through the Dark Portal to confront the Legion on otherworldly battlefields.

Although only one race has been revealed, Blizzard has announced plans to unveil details about possible additional races at a later date. On the other hand, many details have been released about the new continent, Outland. Players last visited Outland in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, alongside Illidan as he conquered the Pit Lord Magtheridon's domain. Players will also gain access to Quel'Thalas, the region to the northeast of the Forsaken lands, where the Blood Elves reside. Blizzard says that this expansion pack holds even more new areas that are ripe for player exploration -- additional details will be revealed in the months ahead.

Blizzard also has plans to add new dungeons and battlegrounds with the expansion, though the exact number has not yet been determined. One upcoming dungeon that has players excited is Karazhan, which is located within Medivh's tower. Because Medivh has played such a central role in Warcraft lore, Blizzard is convinced that longtime players will be especially interested in seeing what Karazhan contains. As for battlegrounds, Blizzard has released very little information. However, they have announced plans to make some of the battles from the past accessible through the Caverns of Time.

Blood Elves: The New Race Thousands of years ago, the exiled Highborne landed on the shores of Lordaeron and founded the enchanted kingdom of Quel'Thas. These high elves, as they called themselves, created a fountain of vast, magical energies within the heart of their land -- the Sunwell. Over time, they grew dependant on the Sunwell's unstable energies, regardless of the bitter lessons they'd learned in ages past.

During the Third War, the villainous Prince Arthas invaded Quel'Thalas and reduced the once-mighty realm to rubble and ashes. His undead army decimated nearly all of the high elven population. In addition, he used the Sunwell's energies to resurrect a powerful undead Lich, Kel'thuzad, thereby fouling the Sunwell's mystical waters. The few elven survivors, realizing that they had been cut off from the source of their arcane power, grew increasingly volatile and desperate.

In the midst of the elves' darkest hour came Kael'thas Sunstrider, the last of Quel'Thalas' royal bloodline. Kael, as he was commonly known, knew that the remnant of his people would not long survive without the nourishing magic that once empowered them. Renaming his people "blood elves" in honor of their fallen countrymen, Kael taught the survivors how to tap into ambient mystical energies -- even demonic energies -- in order to sate their terrible thirst for magic. In search of a new destiny for his people, Kael'thas ventured to the remote world of Outland where he encountered the fallen night elf, Illidan. Under Illidan's watchful eye, Kael and his blood elves regained much of their former power.

Unfortunately, the blood elves practice of embracing demonic energies caused their former comrades in the Alliance to shun them. Thus, the remaining blood elves on Azeroth look desperately to the Horde to help them reach Outland where they can reunite with Kael'thas and achieve the golden destiny he has promised them.

Outland: The New Continent Once the beautiful homeworld of the orcs, all that remains of Draenor is the scattered wastes of Outland. Following the Second War, the Alliance invaded Draenor by crossing through the Dark Portal. To their horror, they discovered that Ner'zhul -- the dark warlord of Horde -- had constructed a series of new gateways that could lead the beaten Horde to newer, unspoiled worlds. As the Alliance forces closed in around him, Ner'zhul opened his gateways as a means of escape. However, his plan backfired and the gateway's clashing energies resulted in a massive catastrophic explosion that ultimately ripped the world of Draenor to pieces.

Nearly thirteen years later -- towards the end of the Third War -- the fallen night elf, Illidan, discovered that huge chunks of Draenor still existed, floating upon the astral winds of the Twisting Nether. After his defeat at the hands of the evil Prince Arthas, Illidan fled to the remnants of Draenor and dubbed them "Outland." He quickly seized control of the chaotic region and sealed the last of Ner'zhul's gateways.

Though he is the undisputed ruler of the ravaged land, Illidan lives in fear that he will be discovered by his powerful enemies -- most notably Arthas, the new Lich King, and the remaining Lords of the Burning Legion. For now, Outland is home to a number of scattered draenei tribes, primitive orcs, and powerful, arcane creatures of the Nether itself. Agents of the Burning Legion have also targeted the region as a vital strategic location in their unending Burning Crusade to scour all life from the universe.

What else can expected? Blizzard has tantalized Warcraft players with the brief glimpse into The Burning Crusade's storyline. Will these heroes find friends or foes? What dangers and rewards lie in wait beyond the Dark Portal? And what will they do when they discover that the demons they thought were vanquished have returned to renew their terrible Burning Crusade? These and other questions will remain unanswered until the gameplay can be explored by role-playing Warcrafters.
