Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium Student & Teacher Edition ReviewI gave this product five stars because of the way Adobe treated my student verification. Adobe only gives these student editions to actual students that are attending a two-year degree college that is accredited by the list of organizations specified on the student eligibility page of Adobe's website. I made sure that my college was accredited before I bought the product. Today, I received the product in the mail, so I created a scan with both my student ID and tuition bill, then I opened the box, went to the student verification web page, and filled out my information, including my valid student email address. After uploading and submitting the information, Adobe replied within 30 or 45 minutes with my serial numbers. Now I can't guarantee that they will respond as quickly as they did to me, but what I can tell you is that they will send you valid serial numbers if you send in the above things.
The product itself is pretty amazing! I really like the new Content Aware feature in Adobe Photoshop, and I also like the fact that I can browse my website while in Live view with Dreamweaver. There are many more features to try, so I'm going to sign up for a subscription with [...] to learn those features. Adobe has done an amazing job with this new Creative Suite, and I completely recommend it to anyone that's into web development like myself.

Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Standard Student & Teacher Edition ReviewI was very happy to see this special offer for teachers, which gave me Photoshop and Acrobat Professional for a good price. The registration and installation on my new 64-bit Windows 7 system went well. However, there is one major problem with this version of Acrobat Professional that I wasn't aware of (and this is a general Acrobat Professional problem, not a specific problem of this package for teachers): The integration with MS Office 2010 is limited to simple "printing" into a PDF file. In the older MS Office 2007, Acrobat installs its own menu in Word and other programs, which lets you optimize a lot of settings for the compression of images in the PDF file, the embedding of fonts, etc., and you can decide if you want to generate a fully functional PDF file with working links to web pages etc. or a simple version. In Office 2010 you get no such Adobe menu - all you can do is select "Adobe PDF" as output device in the Print menu. Also the Acrobat program itself (when running in its own window like the free Acrobat Reader) does not permit to import an MS Word file and convert it into PDF with more options. In other words, the PDF conversion functionality on a PC with MS Office 2010 is reduced to the basic things that some freeware tools can do as well. According to Adobe, this will probably not change before the next release of a completely new version of Acrobat, i.e. we will have to pay again. This is a poor concept. I understand that it may be difficult and time-consuming to adapt the Adobe software to a new version of MS Office, and I would accept limited functionalities for a while if there was another way of converting MS Office documents into PDF files, outside of MS Office, or if there were plans for a free update in the near future. But apparently there are no such plans, and the only workaround for making fully functional PDF files seems to be to transfer the Office files to an older PC and convert them there. Adobe Acrobat X Professional Student & Teacher Edition ReviewI upgraded from Acrobat Pro 7 to 10 last week. I am happy with some of the new features, and I find that the application's speed (for tasks like OCRing) is much improved. The user interface of Acrobat X Pro still looks like it was created for a PC, however, or in any case not for a Mac. The user experience is extremely clunky. Also, seemingly straightforward tasks -- for example, converting a color PDF to black-and-white in order to save space -- oddly seem beyond the capacity of the program. I am somewhat surprised, in short, that skipping two versions (8 and 9) to upgrade to 10 wasn't as big a deal as I expected. Maybe I am failing to understand the technical advances of this version, but Adobe certainly hasn't helped me to see the added benefit. On the other hand, this is still my program of choice for OCR processing and other forms of PDF file manipulation, like reducing file size or managing security. I am not involved in professional document production, so many of the program's production tools are irrelevant to me. Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium Student and Teacher Edition ReviewGotta hand it to Adobe for giving such a generous discount to students compared to Apple. Everything works just like it would with the normal retail copy. My only complaint is you have to wait a day or two for Adobe to approve your student status. They have you send them a photo/scan of your ID, transcript, etc to show you are in fact a student or whatever.
Oh and I don't know if it's a new thing since the last reviewer bought CS5.5, but when Adobe emailed me my serial number they also included a 32bit CS4 serial and a serial for Color Finesse 3.Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium Student and Teacher Edition Overview

Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection Student and Teacher Edition ReviewI am having the exact same problem as the previous reviewer who was trying to get a working serial number for the "complimentary" After Effects and Premiere Pro CS4 for 32-bit support, that came in the box with the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection, Student and Teacher Edition. I applied for my serial numbers, and received a perfectly good serial number for the CS5 components of the collection. However, there was no serial number provided to me for the CS4 components, which I need because I only have a 32-bit computer. If this were the retail version, the number would have been in the box, but it was removed from the Student and Teacher Edition. After several hours on the phone, being transferred back and forth between customer service and technical support, they finally generated two serial numbers for me, one for each program. That would be great if I had two separate programs, but the version included in the box seems to be some kind of combined support application, and it wanted ONE serial number for an application it called "Premiere Pro and After Effects CS4 for 32-bit Support." One window that said Pr + AE, with one place to put in a serial number. So neither of the two numbers they gave me worked, and I cannot seem to be able to convince them there is a problem. They keep telling me it's a problem with my computer and I need to talk to technical support. I actually was sharing my screen with a technical support representative at one point, and he couldn't figure it out either, and concluded I had the wrong serial number. And sent me back to customer service.
So, my recommendation is that if you've got a 64-bit computer, or if you have a 32-bit computer but you don't need After Effects and Premiere Pro, this is a great package of software. If you have a 32-bit computer and you need either of those two programs, DON'T BOTHER. I've been on the phone with Adobe every other day for a week and a half (for hours at a time), and this problem doesn't look like it's ever going to be resolved.
UPDATE: A representative from Adobe called me back, and she finally solved the problem!! Somehow she and her supervisor got their system to generate one serial number for the combined CS4 components, and it worked. So, I'm giving this product three stars instead of one, but keep in mind that it took me somewhere around 11 hours on the phone altogether to get this resolved. Adobe Acrobat X Professional Student & Teacher Edition ReviewVerification is never fun, but I really believe Adobe's verification process is as easy as it could possibly be.
I recently purchased the Student and Teacher Editions (academic versions) of Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5 Extended and Acrobat X Professional.
The entire verification process is very easy and it helps to have your scanned ID or any additional paperwork ready ahead of time. I received all three activation serial numbers in less than 24 hours. Adobe says that it could take up to two business days for verification.
The following might be some helpful information:
Adobe allows you to install and activate your purchased software onto two computers. I have the above-mentioned software installed and activated on two computers on a home network. I am able to 'run' Dreamweaver, Photoshop or Acrobat on both computers at the same time without any licensing problems.
To install and activate your Adobe software on a third computer, you must first 'de-activate' the software on one of the other two computers. Make sure if you ever throw out or give away an old computer, that you first de-activate the Adobe software. Otherwise, you will lose one of your two activations.
After installing and activating, you can then register your software and receive a free gift from Adobe. The gifts vary for each software title. Some of the gifts are AdobeTextPro Font, Photoshop plugins, discounts on Adobe software and 30-day access to training videos on either Lynda.com or CreativeEdge.com. Lynda.com has an amazing amount of training videos. You may want to check out these two websites before registering so you have time to evaluate them.
Concerning future upgrades of Adobe academic software, here is a quote from Adobe's website:
"Upgrades don't have special education pricing. However, you can purchase upgrades for educational products at the regular upgrade prices from any Authorized Education Reseller."
So according to Adobe, you can upgrade your academic software for their standard (non-academic) software if or when you no longer have student or teacher status. That is a really good deal! Many software companies won't allow you to upgrade academic software.
If you are not a student or teacher and you want to purchase academic software, you may want to consider signing up for an interesting class at your local community college. You could then get your student ID and your student status. You don't need to be a full-time student and you don't need to be seeking a degree. Maybe you can find a convenient on-line class. You can then go to a website like JourneyEd and be eligible to purchase all kinds of academic software and hardware.
Also, Microsoft has a program called DreamSpark that allows students to download full-versions of their software for free. You need to first sign up for a Windows Live ID and then sign in and get verified on the Microsoft DreamSpark website. Microsoft uses your college-issued '.edu' email address for verification. During the verification process Microsoft sends an activation email to your .edu email address. You must log in to your .edu email account and click on an activation link within the activation email. My verification didn't go very smoothly as my college had blacklisted Microsoft's mail servers and wouldn't allow me to receive the activation email from DreamSpark. I was eventually verified 'manually' by Microsoft tech support. I had to email them a copy of my scanned school ID and a copy of my class schedule.
After you are verified, Microsoft will verify your student status once a year. You can download all of the software that they have available on their DreamSpark.com website. There are no time limits on the software. You can continue to use their software after your student status expires. After being recently verified, I downloaded the full version of MS Visual Studio 2010 Professional, another very expensive program that was completely free.

An earlier reviewer said that this is a 64-Bit version. He is wrong. I purchased Photoshop directly from Adobe as he did. They only make one version for Windows and it runs on both Windows 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. I have this same Photoshop CS5 (Academic Version) installed on both Vista 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit computers and both run beautifully.
I also recently purchased the Student and Teacher Editions (academic versions) of Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 and Acrobat X Professional here on Amazon.
The following might be some helpful information:

The Mixer Brush lets you define multiple colors on a single tip, and then mix and blend them with the underlying hues on your canvas, achieving creative results that rival traditional painting media. In conjunction with these new mixing features, Photoshop CS5 incorporates unprecedented control over stroke characteristics of its painting tools with Bristle Tips. Bristle Qualities define key bristle properties such as shape, length, stiffness, thickness, angle, and spacing, which affect how the color is laid on the image as you paint.

The Bristle Brush Preview feature provides a visual representation of these changes, and you can save your tip configurations for future use, allowing you to build a customized collection of Bristle Tips to experiment with when using Photoshop brush tools.

Puppet Warp Puppet Warp gives you more freedom when pushing and pulling elements within an image. The feature lets you recompose an image to make it more appealing, or to fit a specific layout, by allowing the precise repositioning of any element within a Photoshop document, or selection, by simply clicking and dragging. After you reposition an object, Photoshop adjusts the rest of the image to account for the shifted pixels.

After choosing Edit > Puppet Warp, click on your image to drop pins establishing anchor points where you want image parts not to move, and handles that you can use for warping. Then drag any of the pins to reposition the picture elements. Use Puppet Warp to swing a raised arm to a person's side, warp and stretch text to create new effects, or reposition intrusive objects in a photo to create a more pleasing composition.

Automated lens correction The Lens Correction features in Photoshop CS5 create better quality captures by removing or correcting the three most common lens-based errors: geometric distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting. This means you can use a wider range of lenses with the confidence of producing images of the highest quality. With the aid of the Adobe Lens Profile Creator (available separately as a free download from labs.adobe.com) you can produce custom profiles characterizing the optical aberrations of your camera lenses. When installed and selected in the Lens Correction filter in Photoshop CS5, the profile automatically removes or corrects the three types of distortion.

The Lens Correction filter in Photoshop CS5 is redesigned to include manual adjustment controls under the Custom tab, and settings for locating and applying custom Lens Correction Profiles (LCP files) under a new Auto Correction tab. Installed profiles that match your camera and lens combination are used to apply precise distortion corrections to your photos. Suitable profiles can be located easily based on the EXIF data automatically recorded with the image, and if a suitable profile is not present in the Lens Correction filter, then with a single click within the dialog box, you can search online for the correct profile to meet your needs.

Individual error types can be selected in the filter's settings, as can options for handling any transparent areas that surround the corrected image.

Easy 3D extrusions with Adobe Repoussé (Photoshop CS5 Extended only) Repoussé is an ancient metalworking technique for embossing artwork on the surface of metals such as gold, silver, copper, tin, and bronze. Photoshop Extended offers a powerful new feature, inspired by this traditional technique, for creating eye-catching 3D artwork.

Use Adobe Repoussé to easily convert 2D artwork into 3D objects and then create depth by altering the extrusion properties of the 3D model. Easily extrude text to create logos and 3D artwork for use in websites, video frames, or layouts.

Starting with a text layer, a path, a selection, or a layer mask, you can convert the content to 3D with the Create New 3D Object section of the 3D panel. After the conversion is complete, you can alter the look of your 3D model by manipulating its key extrusion properties--depth, scale, bend, shear, inflate, or twist--in the Repoussé dialog box.

In addition to manipulating these properties, you can inflate the front or back of the extrusion and/or apply a custom bevel. Sections of objects (internal subpaths) can also be inflated by creating a selection first and then adjusting the Internal Constraints settings in the Repoussé dialog box. The 3D Axis widget allows on canvas rotation of the of the model

Enhanced 3D realism and rich materials (Photoshop CS5 Extended only) Bring your 3D creations to life with the materials that ship with Photoshop CS5 Extended. You can select materials from the library of included presets, download additional materials by choosing 3D > Browse 3D Content, create your own, or even edit existing materials to customize them for your needs (in the materials section of the 3D panel). Test a variety of looks for your 3D models and extruded designs by adding different materials or textures to their surfaces. Materials that feature reflection or refraction properties can be rendered with the new Adobe Ray Tracer engine. The Repoussé dialog box, and the Materials section of the 3D panel, both contain options for applying a single material to all surfaces—as well as choosing different treatments--for individual sections and surfaces of your models

Use the 3D Material Drop tool and the Material Load tool to easily load a material and drop it into different meshes, allowing you to sample and apply materials interactively. New overlay controls provide instant feedback about where specific materials and meshes are located in your model, and the updated 3D axis widget now works with lights and cameras as well as 3D objects.

With the Shadow Catcher feature, you can now easily generate a shadow on the ground plane of a scene, and then adjust how the shadow interacts with image content of other layers by altering its opacity and its softness. To further enhance realism, you can use an HDR image to light your scene, or re-create traditional depth-of-field effects in your rendered scene by adjusting the zone of sharpness with the new Distance and Blur controls.

Better 3D performance and workflow (Photoshop CS5 Extended only) Take advantage of better performance and immediate rendering feedback thanks to the improved Adobe Ray Tracer (ART) engine in Photoshop CS5 Extended. ART 2.0 brings substantial improvements in performance when you interact with and edit 3D models. ART 2.0 progressively renders 3D scenes with an option to re-render after a pause, or even perform selective renderings, all while providing more immediate feedback and dramatically reducing the time it takes to preview key areas in high quality.

You also get faster previews and more responsive interaction thanks to changes made in the OpenGL engine, which now fast-tracks the delivery of complex 3D geometry to the video card. Overall workflow performance has been optimized with improved import, interaction speeds, and better merging of 3D objects into a single scene. To aid with fine-tuning and adjustment of these performance features, there is a new 3D section in Preferences.

Streamlined creative reviews through integration with Adobe CS Review Collaborate with colleagues and seek client comment quickly and easily with Adobe CS Review, a new CS Live online service* designed to simplify and accelerate the design review process.

With CS Review, you can avoid the hassles of large email attachments, logon problems with FTP servers, and time-consuming next-day air deliveries usually associated with client reviews by instead initiating a secure, shared review. Comments are displayed in near-real time and in context, providing convenient feedback on your images and designs. You can access the CS Review service from within Photoshop CS5.

Easier interface management with Live Workspaces and Workspace Switcher Creating dedicated, task-specific workspaces that mimic your individual workflow increases productivity and efficiency by hiding the features you don't use and exposing the ones you do. New Live Workspaces auto-save any changes you make to a task-specific workspace, so that if you switch to a different workspace and then back again during an editing session, your panels remain exactly where you left them. The number of entries displayed in the collapsible Workspace Switcher can be altered, and the position of each workspace can be rearranged. Superior black-and-white conversion Photoshop CS5 continues to support the tradition of producing finely crafted monochrome photos with the inclusion of new ways to explore an endless variety of black-and-white looks. Office for Mac Home & Student 2011 - 1 Pack ReviewIt may have had some bugs before (which is probably why it has some low reviews) but the current version works smoothly with OS X Lion. I had no problems installing it or putting in the product code. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint all work just like they do on windows and docs/presentations/spreadsheets can be transfered to windows computers. So far I've had no problems with any of the 3 and am very pleased with my purchase. A must have for all Mac users.
Do note that it comes with Word, Powerpoint and Excel. If you want Outlook you need another version that includes it or you can but this version and buy Outlook later.
